MTLX.ai documentation

MTLX.ai gives MaterialX creators a public material library, a browser editor and viewer, and tools for local workflows. Public materials are free to upload and browse. Private storage is available on paid plans.

Choose a starting point:

• Upload and share materials through the web or the unified mtlx CLI.
• Use the CLI for local MaterialX work and MTLX.ai cloud operations.
• Use the open-source core to parse, validate, and transform MaterialX documents.
• Call the REST API or use the TypeScript SDK.
• Work in VS Code or connect an MCP client.

The open-source MaterialX project contains the core, editor, viewer, SDK, CLI, VS Code extension, and MCP integration. MTLX.ai hosts the material library and web tools.
